The Pathways of Reform in Legal Education in the Age of Artificial Intelligence: Innovations in Learning Methods and Technical Means

Abstract

This paper systematically explores the opportunities, challenges, and innovative pathways faced by legal education in the era of artificial intelligence (AI). It points out that AI technology empowers legal education by enriching educational resources and transforming knowledge acquisition methods, while simultaneously posing challenges to traditional teaching models, talent competency structures, and curriculum systems. To address these challenges, legal education should deepen reform in three areas: shifting teaching methods from knowledge transmission to competency cultivation, reconstructing the curriculum system, and strengthening faculty development. The paper emphasizes that future legal professionals must possess both “human–machine collaboration” and “human–human collaboration” abilities. Legal education should therefore seek a balance between technological empowerment and the fundamental values of the rule of law, aiming to cultivate interdisciplinary and innovation-oriented legal talents.
